Thirty-two candidates withdrew their nomination papers for this phase, leaving 528 candidates in the fray. The first phase of polling will take place on November 13 in forty-three constituencies. Counting of votes will occur on November 23.

New train ticket advance reservation booking rules have come into effect from yesterday. The Railways has reduced the existing time limit for advance reservations in trains from 120 days to 60 days. However, all bookings made up to October 31 this year will remain valid. According to the Ministry of Railways, it was observed that approximately 21% of reservations made 61 to 120 days in advance were being canceled.

An Indian Army contingent of 25 personnel has left for Cijantung, Jakarta, Indonesia, to participate in the 9th edition of the India-Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise, GARUD SHAKTI 24. This exercise will take place from November 1 to November 12, 2024, with troops from the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) representing India, while Indonesia's Special Forces, Kopassus, will send 40 personnel.
Another Indian Army contingent departed for the 15th edition of the India-U.S. Joint Special Forces Exercise, VAJRA PRAHAR, scheduled from November 1 to November 22 at Orchard Combat Training Centre in Idaho, USA. The previous edition of the exercise took place at Umroi in Meghalaya in December last year.
The Indian Army has started patrolling the Demchok area in eastern Ladakh, with plans for a similar operation soon at Depsang. This patrolling began following the completion of the disengagement process, during which Indian and Chinese troops withdrew to their pre-2020 border positions.
